Course overview
Understand how facilities, people and support services work together. Define service boundaries, clarify stakeholder needs and use evidence to judge whether a workplace is ready for use.
Why this course matters
A signed task sheet does not necessarily mean a room is ready for its users. This course helps you connect the intended service outcome to clear responsibilities, agreed requirements and evidence that can be checked.
Learning objectives
- Explain how facilities and support services contribute to the user’s intended outcome.
- Map hard and soft service boundaries, including reporting and handover responsibilities.
- Distinguish strategic direction, tactical planning and daily operational decisions.
- Turn an incomplete stakeholder request into clear requirements and clarification questions.
- Use performance evidence to explain a service gap and propose a proportionate improvement.
Who should attend
FM practitioners, supervisors, service coordinators and facilities managers
Prerequisites
No formal prior qualification is specified. Participants should be able to discuss workplace examples and follow the teaching language.
Course curriculum
-
FM purpose and organisational value
Connect the user’s intended outcome to supporting facilities services, distinguishing a completed task from demonstrated room readiness.
-
Hard and soft service boundaries
Map technical and support-service boundaries, reporting routes and handovers without assigning repair authority from a general service label.
-
Strategic, tactical and operational responsibilities
Distinguish service direction, resource planning and daily coordination, tracing proposals to the appropriate approval role.
-
Stakeholder needs and service specifications
Turn an incomplete room request into confirmed requirements and clarification questions covering users, timing, layout, equipment and acceptance.
-
Performance evidence and improvement
Compare recorded completion with evidence-supported readiness, explain missing information and propose a follow-up check.
Practical learning
Work through five original activities using a fictional training-room readiness case. Prepare a service-value statement, boundary map, responsibility map, clarified service specification and evidence-based improvement note. Compare your reasoning with the worked reviews in the lessons and Student Guide.
Assessment approach
The self-paced reference course includes a ten-question knowledge check and a practical assignment reviewed by an authorized trainer or administrator. The pass mark is 80% for each assessment. The knowledge check allows two retakes after the first attempt; the practical assignment follows its displayed submission and retake controls. Feedback identifies what to revisit.
Completion information
Complete all five learning modules and the Student Guide activity, pass the knowledge check and achieve at least 80/100 on the reviewed practical assignment. The learning record then enters administrator certificate review. Reading a lesson or passing the quiz alone does not earn a certificate. Real certificates require an approved signatory and an administrator’s issuance decision; issued records appear in My Certificates and the Verification Center.
