Course overview

This course develops the knowledge and practical judgement needed to support the organisation through dependable facilities and well-defined services. The learning sequence begins with customer requirements and process mapping, then develops the tools and decisions involved in quality controls and service variation. Participants connect these foundations with the remaining modules and complete applied work focused on checking effectiveness and sustaining change.

The programme is intended for FM practitioners, supervisors, service coordinators and facilities managers. Examples are examined from both the person delivering the work and the person reviewing its adequacy. Participants practise identifying the relevant requirement, gathering evidence, recognising uncertainty and documenting a justified recommendation. The emphasis and level of challenge follow the approved intermediate level and the stated duration of 1 Day.

Learning combines facilitator explanation, structured questions, case analysis and practical outputs that can be reviewed against the objectives. Corporate groups can use agreed, anonymised procedures and records to make the discussion relevant to their own operations. Exercises distinguish a training recommendation from an authorised workplace decision: local law, client requirements, contracts, engineering standards and manufacturer instructions remain applicable. The closing activity produces a specific improvement or review plan, with responsibilities and evidence requirements that participants can discuss with their own management.

Why this course matters

The course connects customer requirements and process mapping with checking effectiveness and sustaining change. Participants practise making the reasoning and evidence behind an operational decision clear enough for others to review.

Learning objectives

  • Explain the scope of customer requirements and process mapping.
  • Identify the key requirements for quality controls and service variation.
  • Apply a structured approach to nonconformity and root causes.
  • Evaluate evidence relating to practical improvement methods.
  • Develop a practical output for checking effectiveness and sustaining change.

Who should attend

FM practitioners, supervisors, service coordinators and facilities managers

Prerequisites

Relevant workplace exposure and familiarity with basic subject terminology are recommended. Advanced technical workshops require suitable prior knowledge; participant suitability and any specialist preparation are confirmed before booking.

Course curriculum

  1. Customer requirements and process mapping

Translate the agreed user outcome and acceptance criteria into a process map that exposes handoffs, decision points and rework.

  2. Quality controls and service variation

Place checks before acceptance and compare service variation with consistent definitions, periods and denominators.

  3. Nonconformity and root causes

Connect a specific requirement to evidence of a gap, separating immediate correction from tested cause investigation.

  4. Practical improvement methods

Plan a controlled improvement trial with an owner, baseline, evidence method and fallback while limiting simultaneous changes.

  5. Checking effectiveness and sustaining change

Distinguish implementation from effectiveness, compare equivalent work and define ownership and later review before closure.

Practical learning

A multi-building workplace has rising occupancy, inconsistent inspection results and a backlog of service requests. The client wants a clear operating plan before adding resources.

Participants examine this fictional case through the course modules, identify missing information and prepare a justified response. Corporate examples can be adapted within the agreed scope.

Assessment approach

Knowledge checks assess understanding, while a practical case output tests application. Review criteria are accuracy, use of evidence, recognition of limitations, clear responsibility and feasibility. The facilitator provides feedback; joining instructions confirm attendance requirements and any formal pass criteria before delivery.

Completion information

An Al-Warkaa professional-development completion certificate may be issued against the confirmed attendance and assessment requirements. This is not a claim of professional licensure, regulatory authorisation or third-party accreditation.
