Course overview
Recognise food-safety hazards and understand why HACCP depends on effective hygiene practices. Learn the purpose of monitoring, reporting deviations and keeping accurate records.
Why this course matters
A useful introduction to HACCP starts with the food being handled and the harm that inadequate controls can cause. This awareness course gives new team members a shared vocabulary for everyday food-safety instructions.
Learning objectives
- Recognise examples of biological, chemical and physical food hazards.
- Explain how good hygiene practices support a HACCP system.
- Distinguish a routine check, a reported deviation and a corrective action.
Who should attend
New food handlers, catering support staff and colleagues who need an introduction to HACCP before taking on operational duties.
Prerequisites
No previous HACCP qualification is required. Participants need to understand the teaching language and follow basic workplace instructions.
Course curriculum
-
Food hazards and preventive controls
Identify food hazards and connect them with prevention during handling.
-
Prerequisite programmes and HACCP purpose
Understand why effective hygiene programmes underpin HACCP.
-
Monitoring, corrective action and records
Read a simple monitoring record and identify when to report a deviation.
Practical learning
In a fictional staff kitchen, learners sort picture cards showing food-handling situations, identify the instruction that applies and practise reporting a missing check to the supervisor. No learner is asked to design a HACCP plan at this level.
Assessment approach
Short knowledge checks and a reporting exercise assess recognition and basic understanding. The booking confirmation states any attendance and completion criteria before delivery.
Completion information
An Al-Warkaa professional-development completion certificate may be issued against the confirmed attendance and assessment requirements. This is not a claim of professional licensure, regulatory authorisation or third-party accreditation.
